The eCITES solution has been developed to assist the parties to the CITES Convention that do not have access to an electronic permit management system to manage the trade in CITES-protected species in full compliance with the Convention.
It enables:
Blue Vanda Orchid, Vanda Coerulea
permit application procedure
Blue-and-gold macaw, Ara ararauna
pending and issued permits
Hawksbill turtle, Eretmochelys imbricata
between traders and government officials
Cheetah, Acinonyx jubatus
and customizable interfaces
African elephant, Loxodonta africana
with an internet browser
"Sri Lanka is proud to pioneer and develop the eCITES permit processing platform fulfilling a long-term need for an efficient and effective system, providing internal controls and transparency of CITES permits via the special authentication validation feature. Thereby improving collaboration between international and national agencies in implementing the convention."
Ranjan Marasinghe
Deputy Director of Sri Lanka MA (DWC)
"An electronic permit management system is essential for the implementation of the Convention and to fight the illegal trade in wildlife. From the beginning, we have supported the development of the eCITES base solution and we are pleased to see that ePermitting is now accessible to all parties."
